A Chat With Georgia Lyn Hunter

Happy Friday, everyone!

Today, I’m pleased to welcome paranormal romance author Georgia Lyn Hunter to the Paranormal Unbound blog. She’s here to share her views on all things paranormal. Plus she’ll give us a look at her debut release Absolute Surrender, the first book in her Fallen Guardian series. And one lucky commenter will receive an e-ARC of her book.

Hi Georgia Lyn! Thanks for being with us today. What do you love about writing paranormal?
The seductiveness and sensuality of this genre and a belief that the impossible can happen at least in our reading. 🙂

What kind of heroes and heroines do you like to write?
Strong, alpha heroes, stubborn to the core, who think they need no one until the heroines come along and knock them on their gorgeous asses. And heroines, sassy or shy but grow as the story progress, stand up for themselves and fight for what they believe in.

Where do you find inspiration for the worlds you build in your paranormal stories?
Music, a thought, reading, anything really. Then lots of research on the web. Just recently I’d been thinking about the month I have my birthday, and it became part of a plot idea for my YA I’ve just started writing.

Do you also read paranormal? Any other genres catch your fancy?
I love paranormal, can you not tell? 🙂 I also like suspense, horror, some contemporary but all must have romance in them–sigh, I’m such a hopeless romantic…no, don’t kick me out of your interview, I promise I’m not really a sap.
(Celia) – LOL, are you kidding? We LOVE romance around here!

What is your favorite paranormal creature and why?
A leprechaun. Yes, I know he’s not a creature, but hey, he’s paranormal, right? Why? He’d take us on adventures, and I can write while he finds the pot of gold and makes us both rich. 🙂
(Celia) – Oooooh, I like the way you think. 😉

If you could have a paranormal power, what would you wish for?
I want to control the weather. So cool. Oh and have white hair like Storm’s aka Halle Berry–hang on, I think I’m sporting some silver strands–and no, I’m not getting gray, I think I’m getting my Storm-like powers. *smirks*

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The wilds of Scotland, surrounded by a loch. I’d live in a cabin so I can write or paint.

What is your favorite book of all time?
My taste changes. It would usually be anything that recently grabbed my attention…yes, I’m fickle that way. 🙂

What are you reading right now?
Shelly Laurenston’s Wolf with Benefits

Who are your auto-buy authors?
It depends on my mood. Right now it’s Shelly Laurenton. I just wish Jean M. Auel would write more books. 🙂

Tell us a bit about your current Fallen Guardian series (your inspiration, the world, the characters, etc.)
My inspiration and world: [they] came from an idea. What would an immortal warrior [do] who spends eternity alone, only to find his mortal mate as she lay dying. I needed more. A search through the web on demonology, angelology and mythology, and the word empyreal grabbed my attention. But it wasn’t smooth sailing; many write and rewrites and finally the world I wanted emerged. I hasten to add, little is revealed in Absolute Surrender since it’s set in urban New York. But more is revealed in my next book, Darkness Undone.
My characters: I love the angel/demon themes but didn’t want to write about angels as we know them. The word empyreal is what triggered my Empyrean race. Created by another Being to shape the perfection of the celestial angels, except nothing can be perfect and flaws will find a way.

Thanks for visiting with us today, Georgia Lyn. 🙂
Thanks Celia, it’s been a pleasure 🙂

Bio
Georgia Lyn Hunter is happiest with a book in her hand and never thought about writing, too busy devouring the books out there, until she read her first paranormal romance several years ago.
She enjoys brainstorming with her daughter over new ideas and has several book ideas plotted out for the story arc. Now, she just wants an extra pair of hands to write, because her brain is like a hive, her characters voices too loud, and they all want out. She’s excited to finally live her dream with the release of her first book.
Georgia Lyn grew up on the tropical climate of South Africa and now lives in Qatar with her husband and her two children. When she’s not writing or plotting her next novel, she enjoys traveling, reading, catching up on missed TV shows and being with her family.

Absolute Surrender
AbsoluteSurrenderBorn in the flames of Heaven’s wrath, he’s all things sinful…and too dangerous to love.
An immortal guardian, Aethan’s walked alone for millennia, trapped in a hell of his own, until a feisty mortal crosses his path–a female he shouldn’t even look at, one who shakes the precarious foundations of all that he is–and one who’s determined to walk the edge of danger.
All her life, Echo Carter wanted “normal,” an impossible feat given that she can see demons. Now she’s determined to hunt down the demonii responsible for the death of her friend–and no man, no matter how sexy, will stop her–until she discovers a horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to Aethan. But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites…
As evil closes in, will this warrior overcome his darkest fears and claim her as his–or lose her to a far more sinister fate.

  2. Congrats on the debut, Georgia Lyn! This sounds intriguing. I’d never heard the word empyreal, and I love twists on mythology. Best of luck with the release!
