Propping my eyelids open and attempting to squeeze some coherence from my brain for this post as I’m on the tail end of Mardi Gras season here in Mobile, AL! In fact, today is the last day. For those that only associate Mardi Gras with New Orleans, you might be surprised to learn that Mobile was actually the first location for Mardi Gras in the United States.
At any rate, I thought I’d talk a little about Tes’ first book in her Paladin Warriors series, Deliver Me From Darkness. Not sure if you like vampire romance, angels, or paladin warriors defending humanity? Well, no need to choose, you get all of them in one hero. Paladins are angels who have been tasked to defend humans from evil, but for Roland, he has been turned against his will into the creature he usually hunts: a vampire.
The sexual tension is palpable and the world-building is rich. I also really liked the secondary characters, which not only made the story more textured, but sets us up nicely for the next books in the series.
A STRANGER IN THE NIGHT…
He had once been a warrior of the Light, one of the revered Paladin. A protector. But now he lives in darkness, and the shadows are his sanctuary. Every day is a struggle to overcome the bloodlust. Especially the day Karissa shows up at his doorstep.
COMES KNOCKING ON THE DOOR
She is light and bright and everything beautiful—despite her scratches and torn clothes. Every creature of the night is after her. So is every male Paladin. Because Karissa is the last female of their kind. But she is his. He may not have a soul, but he can’t deny his heart.
Have you read Deliver Me From Darkness? Did you know Mardi Gras originated in Mobile in the U.S.?
