Since warm weather is coming–the season of reading on sunny porches, in breezy coffee shops, and in tropical places where the drinks come with umbrellas–and I’ve been filling my Kindle (not that it needed to be filled, but who cares about that?) with fun new reads. I thought today I’d share a mix of what I’ve just downloaded. Please chime in with your own recs!
Also, we’d like to express a very special happy birthday THANK YOU because Paranormal Unbound just passed the one year mark, and we’ve managed to pick up an awesome and loyal following. We are super grateful to all of you! ❤
So… what’s on my TBR?
The Blue Blazes by Chuck Wendig
Meet Mookie Pearl.
Criminal underworld? He runs in it.
Supernatural underworld? He hunts in it.
Nothing stops Mookie when he’s on the job.
But when his daughter takes up arms and opposes him, something’s gotta give…
(I have to say, I love the brevity of this blurb more than I think I’ve loved any book description in the history of anything.)
Hainted by Jordan L Hawk
2013 Rainbow Award 3rd Place Winner
Haint-working runs in Dan Miller’s blood. Not everyone can help the restless dead cross over, especially when the haunting threatens the Living. But the death of his parents six years ago forced Dan to give it up in exchange for raising his brother and sister, all the while struggling to keep their rural NC farm afloat.
So when the flamboyantly goth Leif Helsvin shows up on Dan’s doorstep looking for help with an evil necromancer named Runar, Dan’s first instinct is to turn him down. With two teenagers to look after, he’s already got all the trouble he can handle. Besides, the sexy Leif is too much of a temptation, and Dan is firmly in the closet.
The Bad Boy
Pierced, tattooed Leif never has sex with the same guy twice. It keeps things simple, especially since his oath to stop Runar has him constantly drifting from one town to the next.
See Me by Wendy Higgins
While most seventeen-year-old American girls would refuse to let their parents marry them off to a stranger, Robyn Mason dreams of the mysterious McKale in Ireland, wondering how he’ll look and imagining his cute Irish accent. Prearranged bindings are common for magical families like her own, however when she travels to the whimsical Emerald Isle she discovers there’s more to her betrothal and McKale’s clan than she was led to believe.
What starts as an obligatory pairing between Robyn and McKale morphs over time into something they both need. But one giant obstacle stands in the way of their budding romance: a seductive and deadly Fae princess accustomed to getting what she wants—and what she wants is McKale as her plaything. Love, desire, and jealousies collide as Robyn’s family and McKale’s clan must work together to outsmart the powerful Faeries and preserve the only hope left for their people.
Also on my TBR? (BSP ALERT) My final review of Hunter by Night. What’s great for me is often by the time you’re doing that one last read of a book, you’re a little sick of it. Sure, you love the story and you love the characters, but you’ve combed through the book so many times you’re hardly reading English any more. This one, at the risk of sounding trite, I fall in love with every time. So first Hunter by Night, then these other guys up above. *rubs hands together* I get so excited about a good book binge.
What about you? What’s on your paranormal TBR?
I am reading Feral Heat by Jennifer Ashley at the moment, and am anticipating the fall of the next book on my doormat any day now. Wild Wolf?
I am also totally sucked in the paranormal romantic suspense of Heather Graham at the moment. Will pick up the next book in the Harrison series today.
Awesome recs, thank you! And thanks for stopping by!
I love that brief Wendig back cover blurb. So great! On my TBR = the latest from LKH, JR Ward, Kresley Cole, and Laura Kaye.
JR Ward goes without saying – Can’t believe I neglected to give The King a nod. Thanks, Celia!
